Simon & Big Dave's Charity Jailbreak on Facebook

The challenge

On the weekend of Hallowe'en 2009 we are donning some orange boiler suits and taking part in a charity jailbreak for KidsCan. The aim of the exercise is to get as far away from the start point in 30 hours without spending any money; all travel has to be begged, borrowed or blagged.

The rules of the jailbreak are pretty simple but we have decided to make it a little bit more challenging and also a little bit more interactive. We shall be using Twitter to update our progress and using some cunning technology to track our location while we are within mobile range. Our enhanced rules are:

  • We will start the challenge with:
    • Passports
    • Flip flops
    • Orange Boiler Suits
    • Underwear and a KidsCan t-shirt
    • A mobile phone with spare battery so we can update our location
    • Emergency credit card, EHIC card and travel insurance documents
  • We will not use any transport provided by family or friends
  • We will not use the mobile phone apart from updating our location, updating Twitter and letting the event team know we are safe
  • All food, drinks etc must be blagged

About KidsCan

1 in 500 children will be diagnosed with cancer in the UK this year. Tragically, 30% of these children will not survive. Through groundbreaking research, KidsCan is striving to reduce that figure but your continued support is vital.
